Valencia one among the largest cities of Spain is situated on the coast of the Meditarenian sea. The city with a population of 739412 with an altitude of 13 meter above sea level is an ideal destination for beach and sports lovers .The monthly average temparature of this town varies from 15 in January to 28 in July with a humidity of 68%.

Though the main attraction of valencia is its beaches its landscapes is also a feast for the eyes of the visitors. Being the third largest city of sapin Valencia assumes importance in the tourist map of Spain.

Leaving behind a rich cultural heritage beginning from Romans the city houses some of the great monuments of the country like churches, museums and basilicas . Those who need some respite from the historical nostalgia and monotonous museums, Valencia offers panoramic parks and beautiful botanical gardens.

Valencia also is the town of the famous festival of the las Fallas the memorable spring party that stages the traditional bull fighting, burning of the effigy , Music and lot of Fire works. No traveller who visits the city during the spring can afford to miss this festival .

Any tourist who like to explore the Costa de Azahar and Costa Blanca Would best advised to hire a car for his trip .Valencia airport is one of the well connected destinations in Spain with other places in the mainland and Europe. Just five kilometers away from the city the services to and from the Airport is fast and reliable. Two rail operators are operating the service in the city. Montserrat, more than a mountain!

When we were on holiday in the Costa Brava in August 2001, we decided to go on a daytrip to Montserrat. The word Montserrat means “Sawn Mountain”.

The astonishing mountain of Montserrat would catch the eye of anyone with its saw like silhouette, which is truly breathtaking. It reaches a height of 1,235 metres at its highest point. The mountain is situated almost at the very centre of Catalonia and its highest point is called St. Jerome.

Galleries have never turned me on really, however, we ventured in to the gallery at Montserrat and boy, what an eye opener. As we began to walk around the gallery, we passed the pictures and paintings with some haste as we knew nothing about art and even more embarrassing, we knew nothing about the artists. But, as we did move around the gallery we took more and more time to examine the paintings and actually realised that they were some of the most beautiful paintings we had ever seen. The paintings were all different shapes and sizes with all manner of different scenes depicted. Two things, which really struck us, were the peace of the gallery as people walked around the small gallery but ever so slowly, relaxed and intensely viewing the pictures on the walls and artefacts displayed. The second thing was the overwhelming feeling of humility, as we were time and time again astonished by the quality of each painting. This was one of the most memorable days of our 14 day holiday.

Over the centuries, the mountain of Montserrat has become a deeply spiritual place and a patriotic symbol. When visiting Montserrat you can also enter the basilica to hear the choir scholars, who will sing the midday Salve.

Montserrat is a mountain, a sanctuary, a monastery but above all, a spiritual community.

Carnival of Cádiz

Is coming carnival season, and with them one of the most famous of Spain: The Carnival of Cadiz. A couple of years ago I was fortunate to attend and the truth is that the festival is incredible.

For a Madrid like me, it is difficult to explain what it is like to see something like that, since in the capital of Spain is the surprise to find at most 15% of people dressed that day. In Cadiz, the carnivals are lived very intensely, and at night it is impossible to see someone that is not disguised.

On nights of carnival in Cadiz streets fill with people coming from all parts of Spain and the world who want to pass disguised very well. The costumes people are spectacular and elaborate. What most struck me was the quality of the costumes of group: Friends who disguise themselves as Prawns, cutlery, Dancers Cabaret, The Flintstones, with their coaches, tennis players with Tennis court … Awesome!. Of course, one of the strengths of the Carnival of Cádiz are the jokes: Groups in carnival costume to sing songs out into the street. In Cadiz are an institution, and most famous associations compete for major prizes in competitions organized by the city. Paradores of Spain

Tenerife Mount Teide rising

Tenerife, it is wonderful! The variety of landscapes and hiking, architecture, food, weather … The whole thing go locuraviajes hanging on the blog. But since we have to start something, I chose one of the undisputed stars of the trip to Tenerife: Teide view.

No matter the plan you go: with family, friends, relaxing on a beach … if you spend a day on this excursion, you are missing one of the wonders of this wonderful island.

If you decide to go on organized tour, you will not have to worry about anything: a “bus” with more passengers will take you to key sites, usually starting in the South or if you stay in Puerto de la Cruz, La Orotava.

But if you decide to rent a car, our advice is do not hesitate to explore the island by mountain axis: starting from La Esperanza (near town of La Laguna) and continuing along the road that takes you to the National Park of Las Cañadas del Teide . So you go through different landscapes as you go upwards, see the sea of clouds and how it is tucked into the woods, and have the opportunity to see the north and south about the same time.

For the return you will have 3 main options: to the south, coming to the Cliffs of the Giants in the north, down the Orotava, and go back where you came from.

El Hierro: Island of the apocalypse

This summer, we had the opportunity to spend an incredible week in El Hierro, the westernmost island of the Canaries. El Hierro is a veritable paradise declared a biosphere reserve integral (title it shares only two other islands in the world), who live about 8000 people.

The origin of the iron is volcanic, and most of its territory is formed by recent lava. The costs are very high and steep, and there is no sandy beach, although there are natural pools of Tamariu.

Life in the Iron is very relaxed throughout the year, although we could see, was encouraged enough in summer due to popular festivals of the people, which of course have their verbena popular singers and orchestra with local people (not can deny that although far from the peninsula are still in Spain).

There are many iron incredible places to visit. Let’s see some of them in summary form.

The tip of Orchila: At World’s End

The tip of Orchila is the westernmost part of Spanish territory, and until 1492 was thought to be the end of the world. Until 1885, the meridian 0 passed through this place, represented by the beacon of Orchila.

The Garoé: The Holy Tree

The Interior Ministry has opened a section within its website where information on all of the required procedures and documentation required for travel to any country worldwide for Spanish citizens.

On the web warn that the data refer to touristic stays of up to 90 days, unless the exceptions noted in the respective countries, and in any case we have to get in touch with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.

For countries not included in the list, you need a visa issued by the embassy or consulate of the country who want to visit. For this we must look in several directories and websites of embassies and consulates of foreign countries in Spain:
