These mountain gorillas are an endangered species. This is because of the warring communities at the border of Uganda and its western neighbors. Hunters too have been a big threat to them.
On the fourth day, there is an early morning briefing at the national park FOR HOW your trekking day will be. In the evening you get back to the camp and spend the night there. On the fifth day, you return back to Kampala and spend the night in the city. On the sixth day, you are transferred to the airport where you catch a flight back to Kenya.
Kenya is a medium sized country on the eastern part of Africa. It measures approximately 580,367 km2 and it is the 47th largest country in the world. Its capital city is Nairobi which is in central Kenya. Other major cities include Kisumu and Mombasa while major towns are Nakuru, Kericho, Eldoret and Nyeri. Kenya has forty different ethnic groups which fall under Bantu, Nilotic and Cushitic speakers. The Bantu group is the largest with the Agikuyu community dominating it. Kenya is bordered by the Indian Ocean to the south east, Lake Victoria and Uganda to the west, Somalia to the north east, Ethiopia to the north and Tanzania to the south.

The biggest ethnic group is the Kikuyu. They are part of the Bantu speaking people. They occupy the fertile slopes of Mount Kenya and they are mostly farmers. The name Kenya was derived from the kikuyu, kamba and embu names for Mount Kenya. These are Kirinyaga, Kiinya, and Kirinyaa. They believed that the mountain was God’s resting place. They treated the mountain as a holy and sacred place. The word Kenya means God’s resting place.

Kenya has a tropical climate. At the coast and central Kenya, it is very humid. The northern part of Kenya is very dry. The Great Rift Valley passes through the Kenya’s highland making the region very fertile and it the best in the area for crop production. Kenya is also home of many different species of animals and birds. This is because o9f the conducive climate. The big five which are the lion, rhino, elephant, buffalo and leopard can be found here too.

Generally, Africa is adorned by beautiful sites, great culture and very friendly people. Wherever you go as a tourist, you will enjoy the hospitality. There is as an African proverb that says that a visitor is like a river. He will not be around for long. Therefore do not be tired of treating him well when he is around. Depending on what you are looking for, be assured that the safari to Africa will be unforgettable. If you choose any part of Africa, the rich culture will entice you. The culture changes as you move from one part of Africa to another depending on the people living there. Modernization also affects the cultural practices too. Where people have embraced the western ways of life, you will find minimal cultural beliefs and practices.

If you love rock and mountain climbing, the Kilimanjaro in Tanzania is a good challenge for you. Mount Kenya found in Kenya is also a very big tourist attraction. All you need to do is get a reputable tour company that will guide you through the process. The tour company will also assist in getting good camping grounds, hotels, arranging transport and any other necessary equipment for the journey. Egypt is also a very good safari place in Africa. The pyramids which were part of the Seven Wonders of the World are very unique and beautiful. They are also intriguing as they were built hundreds of years ago using human labor alone.

If you are a person who loves history, the best is in Africa. The fight over apartheid in South Africa will intrigue you. You will also learn more about great African leaders such as Mwalimu Nyerere of Tanzania, Nelson Mandela of South Africa and not so good leaders such as Idd Amin of Uganda. You can also get to experience life from the towns these leaders originated from. Sites where great massacres and genocides took place are also tourist attraction centers. These include Rwanda, Burundi, Somali and Sudan.

This is a country that lies eastern part of Africa. It is bordered by Tanzania to the south, Uganda to the west, Sudan to the northwest, Somalia to the north east, Ethiopia to the north and Lake Victoria to the west. Kenya’s capital city is Nairobi. It has other major cities such as Kisumu and Mombasa. Other major towns include Nakuru, Eldoret, Kericho and Nyeri. It has a population of around 38 million with the majority of people living in the capital city. It has around forty different ethnic groups which fall under, Bantu, Nilotic and Cushitic speakers.

The biggest ethnic group is the Kikuyu. These are Bantu speaking people found on the slopes of Mount Kenya. The word Kenya originated from the Kikuyu, Kamba and Embu names for Mount Kenya. These are Kirinyaga, Kiinya and Kirinyaa. The three communities shared a belief that the mountain is God’s resting place and it was therefore a sacred place and very holy. The name in English actually means, ‘God’s resting place’.

Kenya measures around 580,367 km2 and it is the world’s 47th largest country. The low plains from the coast rise up to central highlands which are the most fertile lands in this region. The highlands are divided by the Great Rift Valley which is also a very fertile plateau. The climate varies from tropical from the coast and changes as you go across to the interior. Some places such as northeastern Kenya are very arid while central Kenya enjoys adequate amounts of rainfall.

As we discussed at locuraviajes, there are lots of webcams located throughout the world that let us see what is happening in these places in real time. The one that I discussed today is located in a nature reserve in Kenya, particularly in the pond Nkorho. This pond is the only one there for miles around, so it is possible to see the animals on quenching their thirst with assiduity.

The camera is connected 24 hours a day, and when an animal comes to drink starts zooming. Animals are not forced to go to drink, only go by choice when they want, so sometimes you have to have a little patience.

Safari is a Swahili expression meaning “Trip”. Although this word was formerly used to describe the expeditions that were carried out in African countries in order to hunt large exotic animals like elephants, giraffes, lions, buffaloes, rhinos, etc. Today this word is used to describe the “hunt” photo of these animals in the different parks and nature reserves that exist in African countries.

One place for tourists to see live large animals is Kenya. Thanks to its privileged location has a large number of parks and nature reserves that allow visitors to see elephants, lions, giraffes, buffalo, leopards, cheetahs, rhinos, zebras, gazelles, antelopes, flamingos, and an incredible number of animals released only seen in the zoo.

Kenya safaris are done in two ways: A very cheap tents and furgonetillas of 8 people and a very expensive: in lodges (5-star accommodation amid the parks) with large SUVs. Some cost about $ 60 a day and the other about ten times more.

One of the Kenyan TV shows attracted more viewers gathered in front of the boob in that country is “This is not fair,” a program broadcast in Swahili on Wednesday afternoon. Inma, during his trip to Kenya had the opportunity to see some peculiar episodes of the program, the Black and white TV with the “house” where he was “staying”.

The program in question is a series of educational, teaching good manners to viewers in different social situations, where you can find an inhabitant of the country. The issue that I was commenting Inma was entitled “How to behave in the library” (a Inma it translated).

For the laughs we listened as he told me, it seems that is a pretty funny seen by a Westerner. The chapter of the week, starring a man who entered a library, where four people were concentrated in a very heady in reading their books. Upon entering the room, begins to sing (all provided in Swahili), then the camera focuses on the readers, who devolved by the chants of the new visitor, looking with his face twisted and tut the scandalizer.

As you can imagine, the staging of the program is a waste of resources, and at that time the announcer shouts “This is not fair,” followed by a repetition of the same phrase for a children’s choir: “This is not fair “” This is not fair “and explained to the visitor who sings, the because of his wrongdoing.

The program continues throughout their duration to the same scene starring cleaning ladies, policemen, etc.. Trying to understand the Kenyan population, as people should behave in a library.

What is Safari?

How To Visit the Mountain Gorillas in Bwindi Uganda

Kenya in Africa

Best Safari Places in Africa

Kenya Africa

Live Animals of Africa: Kenya Webcam

Massai Village

Africa Travel: Visual Feast for Every Traveler

South Africa Travel a Trip to Wander Land!

Take in Offbeat Johannesburg within your South Africa Travel Plans This Summer

This year we were fortunate to travel to Kenya. One activity we did during our trip was a safari where we had the opportunity to visit the Masai Mara reserve. In addition to the incredible amount of animals, all different you see, also visited a Massai village.

The truth is that the situation is rather curious. Upon arrival you get the village chief, and then negotiate with him, the price to enter and visit their village. Once negotiated the price, you send a kid Massai, more or less young, who speaks English and is going to be the one to tell you things from their village.

Although Massais live in villages, in the midst of National Park Reserve, ultimately it is common to send their children to school, to learn English among other things, that’s why the guy who was with us he could communicate to the perfection.

So nothing here began our visit to the village. We saw many houses made of mud and cow dung, the villagers, we got into some of their houses and told us how they live. The Massais usually drink much milk, and also the famous blood of one of the many cows they have. In fact, the more cows to have richer and more children are considered can have.

A strange thing is the impact that you get to see a kid about your age, speaking to the culture of his people: Polygamy, machismo, ablation and circumcision … and your there six feet but a world of cultural difference.

Well here we leave you some pictures of what was the visit to the village. With hint of dance by Massai me included.
