Is coming carnival season, and with them one of the most famous of Spain: The Carnival of Cadiz. A couple of years ago I was fortunate to attend and the truth is that the festival is incredible.
For a Madrid like me, it is difficult to explain what it is like to see something like that, since in the capital of Spain is the surprise to find at most 15% of people dressed that day. In Cadiz, the carnivals are lived very intensely, and at night it is impossible to see someone that is not disguised.
On nights of carnival in Cadiz streets fill with people coming from all parts of Spain and the world who want to pass disguised very well. The costumes people are spectacular and elaborate. What most struck me was the quality of the costumes of group: Friends who disguise themselves as Prawns, cutlery, Dancers Cabaret, The Flintstones, with their coaches, tennis players with Tennis court … Awesome!. Of course, one of the strengths of the Carnival of Cádiz are the jokes: Groups in carnival costume to sing songs out into the street. In Cadiz are an institution, and most famous associations compete for major prizes in competitions organized by the city.
