In the morning, Puerto Mosquito is a Caribbean beach, but in new moon nights, you can see in the water one of the most striking phenomena of the world: The bioluminescence.

The area of Puerto Mosquito Bay is an ideal habitat for the life of bioluminescent organisms: the dinoflagellates. The bay is surrounded by mangroves (Trainings own wetland plant tropical coasts) that are rich in vitamin B12. Decomposing on contact with water, allow these organisms to feed, creating one of the largest concentrations of luminescent life of the world.

By creating motion, flutter and shine microorganisms generating a stream of light as we passed. Bathing and doing hand motions, canoeing or just moving through there are some of the favorite attractions of tourists.

Some travel companies organize tours of the new moon night. If you’re traveling, know that Ali is a protected site with a very fragile ecosystem. In fact, the Puerto Rican government is making efforts to preserve this amazing place, which many tourists keep one of the best memories of their lives.
