Shivering chill and sweating heat are the characteristics of India. The hill stations of India are the perfect relief from the heating hot and to enjoy nature. With snow covered mountains, meandering rivers, apples, cherries and pines orchids, the hill stations of India offer a relief from the sweating heat of the summers. They allure the tourists again and again to breath in their lap.

India is bestowed with some of the beautiful hill stations. Infact tourists often get confused where to lay down in this huge lap of nature. Some famous hill stations of North India are Shimla, Manali, Dalhousie, Ladakh, Nainital, Almora, Badrinath, Kausani, Mussoorie, Gulmarg, Pahalgaon, Mount Abu and many more. In the enchanting east it is darjeeling, sikkim, shillong and kohima. We get Mount abu, Lonavala, Panchgani, Satputa etc. in the wonderful west. And the soothing south offers us with places like Munnar, Ooty, Coorg, Kodaikannal and coonoor.

All hill stations of India are beautiful their own way. My endeavor in this article is to provide the tourists about the glimpses of the hill stations of North India.

Shimla – Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, is one of the beautiful hill stations of North India. There are some interesting places in and around Shimla like Kurfi, Naldehra, Jaku temple, Institution of Advance studies and so on. The picturesque surroundings of Shimla is completely different and it is often compared with European country. Shimla is famous for outdoor sports like skating, river rafting, rock climbing and trekking.

Manali – Another mind blowing spot in the lap of Himachal Pradesh is Manali. It is a favourite honeymoon spot. Besides the historical temples, the river Vyas gives the city a rhythmic touch. Rohtang pass, 51 km from Manali town is really a breathtaking place with snow surrounding the area. The Mall Road of Manali is an exciting place for shopping.

Dalhousie – This romantic hill station of Himachal Pradesh reminds us of the colonial era. A part from lush greenery, the churches of Dalhousie are famous tourists’ attractions.

Nainital – Nainital is a lovely town in the hill of Kumaon. It is dotted with lakes but the most prominent lake is the Naini lake. Places like Bhimtal, Ranikhet, Ramgarh, Kasauni, Mukteshwar are some of the places with beautiful landscape near Nainital.

Mussoorie – Mussoorie, the ‘queen of the hill’, is situated in the Garhwal hills. Dehradoon and Mussoorie are very near by and tourist often cover these two places on their visit to the Garhwal hills.

Gulmarg and Pahalgaon – Gulmarg and Pahalgaon are two places in Jammu and Kashmir, and are considered as paradise on earth. Hiking around the hills, pony riding, trekking to near by mountain lakes are what make the places truly special.

Ladakh – The most spectacular hill stations of north India is Ladakh. It is completely different from the other hill stations of India. It is the most remote region of Himalayan Kingdom. Ladakh is described as the ‘land of high passes’. It is a land of Lamas.

Chardham- Badrinath, Kedar nath, Gangotri, Yamunotri are the Hindu pilgrimage located in the backdrop of enchanting Himalaya. These places are ideal spots for religious people. The serene tranquil beauty with mythological background, the char dham are often described as land of God.

It is a never ending task when some one starts about describing the hill stations of north India. It is not possible to give a vivid description of all the hill stations. But holidays in any of the hill stations of north India give the tourist a lasting impression of hugging nature.

Getting there

All the hill stations of North India are easily accessible from Delhi or via Delhi. Only Ladakh needs a bit prior planning

Accommodation

All the hill stations have plenty of accommodations but during peak season due to excessive rush it is always suggested to do the prior booking of the hotels.

Green Lake trek is one of the outstanding and most adventurous treks in Sikkim. It is at the base of the Mountain Kanchenjunga. Green Lakes doesn’t mean there is a lake, but one will see unbelievable stretch of green frozen glacier, which is known by the name Zemu Glacier. This glacier is almost 1 km wide and 26 km long, making it the longest glacier in Sikkim.

This trek is close to the Tibetan border. Known as a trekker’s paradise, the Green Lake Trek is one of the least explored areas of the Sikkim region. It is a very pictorial trek that has spectacular views of high peaks. The glacial snow peaks surround the region as one traverse through the valleys. The trek to the Green Lake requires walking through sludge and slimy paths – but the reward is just stunning. The mountain views are implausible with an arena of peaks with Kanchenjunga Mountain at the head of the valley.

The trek route runs along the left bank of the Zemu River and passes through the dense habitats of Silver fir forests, Birch dominated thickets, alpine scrubs and meadows. There are vast tracts of thick forest, with several varieties of colorful flowers, birds and waterfalls on both sides of the trail. Flowers like rhododendrons, blue poppies and primulas are in full bloom especially in the months of October-November which is the best time for this trek.

The highlight of Green Lake trek is the fertile conifer forests, rich wildlife, majestic peaks of Siniolchu, Tent Peak. One can view the muzzle of the glacier formed in pyramid shaped from where the furious Zemu Chu originates.

Herds of Blue Sheep can be noticed grazing on Green lake meadows. Other wild animals like Himalayan Black Bear, Serow, Red Fox, Pheasants can been seen roaming in the lower belt.

Thus Green Lake trek is a land of unknown wilderness inhabited by rare Himalayan species like Snow Leopard, Blue Ship and Tibetan Wild Ass, to a land of Tibetan nomadic people and to an unbelievable landscape with high mountain peaks and glaciers. The trek to Green Lake has been truly called as the most charismatic trek for any trekkers.

The Great Wall of China is a series of stone and earthen fortifications in northern China, built, rebuilt, and maintained between the 5th century BC and the 16th century to protect the northern borders of the Chinese Empire from Xiongnu attacks during various successive dynasties. Since the 5th century BC, several walls have been built that were referred to as the Great Wall. One of the most famous is the wall built between 220–206 BC by the first Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang. Little of that wall remains; the majority of the existing wall were built during the Ming Dynasty.

The Great Wall stretches from Shanhaiguan in the east to Lop Nur in the west, along an arc that roughly delineates the southern edge of Inner Mongolia. The most comprehensive archaeological survey, using advanced technologies, has recently concluded that the entire Great Wall, with all of its branches, stretches for 8,851.8 km (5,500.3 mi). This is made up of 6,259.6 km (3,889.5 mi) of sections of actual wall, 359.7 km (223.5 mi) of trenches and 2,232.5 km (1,387.2 mi) of natural defensive barriers such as hills and rivers.

The Chinese were already familiar with the techniques of wall-building by the time of the Spring and Autumn Period, which began around the 8th century BC. During the Warring States Period from the 5th century BC to 221 BC, the states of Qi, Yan and Zhao all constructed extensive fortifications to defend their own borders. Built to withstand the attack of small arms such as swords and spears, these walls were made mostly by stamping earth and gravel between board frames. Qin Shi Huang conquered all opposing states and unified China in 221 BC, establishing the Qin Dynasty. Intending to impose centralized rule and prevent the resurgence of feudal lords, he ordered the destruction of the wall sections that divided his empire along the former state borders. To protect the empire against intrusions by the Xiongnu people from the north, he ordered the building of a new wall to connect the remaining fortifications along the empire’s new northern frontier. Transporting the large quantity of materials required for construction was difficult, so builders always tried to use local resources. Stones from the mountains were used over mountain ranges, while rammed earth was used for construction in the plains. There are no surviving historical records indicating the exact length and course of the Qin Dynasty walls. Most of the ancient walls have eroded away over the centuries, and very few sections remain today. Later, the Han, Sui, Northern and Jin dynasties all repaired, rebuilt, or expanded sections of the Great Wall at great cost to defend themselves against northern invaders.

The Great Wall concept was revived again during the Ming Dynasty following the Ming army’s defeat by the Oirats in the Battle of Tumu in 1449. The Ming had failed to gain a clear upper-hand over the Manchurian and Mongolian tribes after successive battles, and the long-drawn conflict was taking a toll on the empire. The Ming adopted a new strategy to keep the nomadic tribes out by constructing walls along the northern border of China. Acknowledging the Mongol control established in the Ordos Desert, the wall followed the desert’s southern edge instead of incorporating the bend of the Huang He.

Unlike the earlier Qin fortifications, the Ming construction was stronger and more elaborate due to the use of bricks and stone instead of rammed earth. As Mongol raids continued periodically over the years, the Ming devoted considerable resources to repair and reinforce the walls. Sections near the Ming capital of Beijing were especially strong.

During the 1440s–1460s, the Ming also built a so-called “Liaodong Wall”. Similar in function to the Great Wall (whose extension, in a sense, it was), but more basic in construction, the Liaodong Wall enclosed the agricultural heartland of the Liaodong province, protecting it against potential incursions by Jurched-Mongol Oriyanghan from the northwest and the Jianzhou Jurchens from the north. While stones and tiles were used in some parts of the Liaodong Wall, most of it was in fact simply an earth dike with moats on both sides.

Towards the end of the Ming Dynasty, the Great Wall helped defend the empire against the Manchu invasions that began around 1600. Under the military command of Yuan Chonghuan, the Ming army held off the Manchus at the heavily fortified Shanhaiguan pass, preventing the Manchus from entering the Chinese heartland. The Manchus were finally able to cross the Great Wall in 1644, when the gates at Shanhaiguan were opened by Wu Sangui, a Ming border general who disliked the activities of rulers of the Shun Dynasty. The Manchus quickly seized Beijing, and defeated the newly founded Shun Dynasty and remaining Ming resistance, to establish the Qing Dynasty.

In 2009, an additional 290 kilometres (180 miles) of previously undetected portions of the wall, built during the Ming Dynasty, were discovered. The newly discovered sections range from the Hushan mountains in the northern Liaoning province to Jiayuguan in western Gansu province. The sections had been submerged over time by sandstorms that moved across the arid region.

Under Qing rule, China’s borders extended beyond the walls and Mongolia was annexed into the empire, so construction and repairs on the Great Wall were discontinued.

We finished our show about Japan and Tokyo with a suggestion of visiting the city two days.

As a first destination is Tokyo Tower, at the very center of Tokyo, Hibiya stop. That basically is the same as the Eiffel Tower but orange, but still is a “must” in tokyo. From there you can walk to Roppongi Hills which is 10 minutes and is worth walking and running into many buildings incredible. Moreover, leaving the tower tokyo is that those in the embassy area of the world, found in the “Roppongi”. There you can see from the embassy of Saudi Arabia to Mexico.

Once you get to Roppongi Hills, you’ll run into the Mori Building, that truth is an impressive building, inside a mall and you can have access to a lookout on the top floor you can see everything at your feet tokyo . Once you finish with the viewpoint you can go to the Mori Museum, which is on one side of the balcony. This is a modern art museum is very important works.

Once these down again in the Mori Building you should take your picture with the spider’s museum in Bilbao, a huge statue of a spider with all its eggs. That night I suggest you go to Akahibara, electronic city, where you will stumble across 15-story buildings filled, packed with pure cameras, TV’s, all of technology. A tip! Do not buy into YODABASHI BIC CAMERA or CAMERA, which are commercial, I bought a camera, good and cheap after Laox bargain shop, highly recommended if you buy something there you have your technology purchases.

As early as 11 at night so you’re tired of walking …. But it did not stop there. The next day you wake recomeindo at 4:50, take the subway at 5 am, and go to Tsukiji, where is the Fish Market: The place gets all the fish eaten in Tokyo. All the action takes place between 5 am to 7 am. time during which auctions are the amount of fish costs almost $ 20,000 USD.

Very nearby you can see some famous temples. To visit and use for breakfast. Around the Fish market are the stand up sushi. Worth.

After breakfast go to Asakusa, which to me is the most important destination of the journey as there is the Senjoi temple, the oldest temple in Japan. The photo must is the mere entry with a red balloon fabric and dragons. That photo is worth the trip. Once inside the pagodas and really have to go through the incense and make what you see in the video.

Once you have visited the Temple Senjoi, you can visit the building of a brewery that if you look closely resembles a beer as it is golden on the outside and on top of the building is offices with white glass resembling the beer foam. Very interesting.

Already visited Asakusa Ok, now go to Ginza or Hibiya there is the Imperial Palace, which is impressive, both the gardens and buildings. A must. I finally go to Harajuku and Omotesando street are Japanese Fashion. It is very interesting walk these streets as they are surrounded by world fashion. You can find items from D & G, Armani to Japanese brands … and you see every outfit!.

Ahi on harajuku for the KDDI designing studio, and go to floor three, you get a very nice surprise.

This has been our tour in Japan. A short trip, but intense than I expect you bring forth good recommendations. One last tip: The food in Japan is expensive, and besides if you’re not used to it you may find it a little “different.” Alternate test to get used to Western food in Japan.

If you’re thinking about going to Japan then we write a set of tips that most likely will need to help you when you arrive.

The arrival at the airport: The first contact with Tokyo

For starters they are 15 hours of flight, and arrive at Narita Airport, which is on the shores of Tokyo. There you can do two things, catch a train that takes hours and costs 5000yen, type $ 500 AUD, or catch a bus “friendly Limousine” that take you to the different districts of Tokyo and it costs 3000yen, $ 300MXN. My recommendation is the bus, because this way you will be seeing the whole city, however the train will be nearly impossible.

Possible accommodation in Tokyo

As accommodation chose Shibuya, one district of Tokyo known for its nightlife. In shibuya crossing there is a very famous right where Ginza subway line. The truth is a true spectacle view of Shibuya crossing, for crossing the street in a minute more than 500 people coming and going to the metro.

The Tokyo subway

If you are planning to use the subway in Tokyo … get ready … because nobody, but nobody speaks English. The signs are not in English, and have to go to a hotel and ask for a guide tube in Spanish or English to locate poderte.

When you go to buy subway tickets requested assistance because the machines that sell you the ticket are not in English … My advice is to buy the ONE-DAY-TICKET because with that you can move everywhere in the lines of meter.

The reason for this construction was to have a great public space where popular demonstrations. In fact, during the popular revolution Mao Zedong presided over parades in this vast desert paved up to one million people. In 1976, the same amount of people packed the square to depedida the deceased leader.

Place one point topped the headlines of every newspaper in the world when in 1989 the tanks and soldiers cracked down on anyone who was in favor of democracy. Student revolt that we will remain etched in our minds by the image of a young student stood up to army tanks.

Usually there are many people walking, children flying kites and a large number of street vendors of refreshments for visitors.

On the north side, the square is bordered by the emperor’s Forbidden City, while in the middle of it we can see the monument to the People’s Heroes, with an enrollment of Chairman Mao, which says “the people’s heroes are immortal.
